Vehicle Rental Terms & Conditions

Full terms & conditions of rental are detailed below.

ASP Car Hire endeavours to show only accurate information on its website (https://aspcarhire.com).

We reserve the right to make changes to any of the Terms and Conditions at any time and will post these changes on this page.

Whats included:

Whats not included:

  • Personal Accident Insurance (PAI)
  • Additional optional insurance/waiver products
  • Insurance restrictions and exclusions – see the relevant insurance sections
  • Garaging, parking, and traffic fines
  • Additional driver’s charges which are payable locally
  • Delivery and collection of your car can be arranged during normal working hours if you are not being picked up by ASP Car Hire at the airport
  • Optional extras
  • Young driver’s charges where applicable
  • Off island usage is not allowed unless agreed in advance with a director of ASP

Arrival Information

Please ensure that you state your flight number, arrival time and whether you have ‘hold’ or ‘hand’ luggage.

You will be met at the front entrance of the airport by one of our vehicles which will be branded with the ASP logo. From there you will be taken back to our secure compound where your hire vehicle will be ready and waiting for you.

Minimum & Maximum age of Rental

The Minimum rental age is 25 years of age for all our vehicles and maximum age is 70 years.

Driving Licence

All persons (including Additional Drivers) wishing to hire a vehicle must possess a full and valid driver’s licence, which has been held for a minimum of 12 months. UK licence holders possessing the 2-part photo and counterpart licence are advised to bring both parts when collecting their vehicle. Where either part is not available a licence check will be carried out with the DVLA at the point of collection

UK Licence Holders must bring:

  • Photo Driving licence or Paper Licence
  • Print out of DVLA Check Code – to obtain the code go to https://www.viewdrivingrecord.service.gov.uk/driving-record/licence-number? (Please note this code expires after 72 hours and you will require your Driving Licence number, National Insurance and Postcode)

    If you are unable to go online to get a Check Code, then we can telephone the DVLA for you. (this will incur an additional charge of £3.50.) 

 Overseas Licence Holders must bring:

  • Driving licence
  • Passport
  • 1 additional form of identification showing your home address.
  • Non-EU licence holders must have been in the UK for less than 12 months.

If you are in any doubt about what to bring with you or require any further clarification prior to completing your booking, please send an email to sales@aspcarhire.com . Please note, that unless previously arranged, your collection point will be at our Ballasalla (Isle of Man) address.

Additional drivers

Additional drivers are subject to a fee of £12 per day per additional driver.

Duration of Hire

The duration of your rental starts and finishes according to the pick-up and drop-off dates and times detailed on your reservation the price of which will be confirmed at the time of booking, if you wish to extend the rental beyond the agreed day additional charges will apply. No refunds are payable on vehicles returned early.

Request Items

Child seats are mandatory in the Isle of Man and should be requested at the time of booking. Instructions will be provided but you will be required to fit the child seat yourself. For older children it is recommended that you bring your own booster seats. Satellite Navigation Units are available from our offices and can be requested on line and paid for locally.

Amending your Reservation

Reservation amendment can be made online if you have created an account, but you should also confirm this by email to sales@aspcarhire.com –  all requests will be answered quickly during working hours.

Credit Card Charges

Bookings made by credit card will incur a credit card fee, to avoid being charged this fee ASP Car Hire recommends paying by Switch/Maestro or Visa debit card or by PayPal if you have an account.

Hours of Business

Our office is open from

Monday to Friday opening from 7am until 9pm
Saturday opening from 8am until 6pm
Sunday opening from 8am until 9pm

Fuel

Vehicles are supplied with half a tank of fuel. You need to return the vehicle back with half a tank of fuel, as shown on the factory-installed fuel gauge. We recommend you fill up as close to the return location as you can on the return date and keep the receipt to show us upon request. If you do not return the vehicle with that level or cannot show the receipt when prompted, you must pay for the fuel you have used at ASP Car Hire’s pump rate together with a re-fuelling fee of £10.

Lost Key

Please note there will be a charge of £300 to replace a key. If you require the office to come out with the spare key, then this will result in an additional cost of £50.

Additional Waivers

The standard damage excess liability amount is £500.

The standard insurance does not cover damage to Wheels, Tyres and any Interior damage, speeding and parking fines.

Any damages caused to the vehicle due to negligence, abuse or misuse, will be chargeable.

Deposits

On collection of your vehicle a security deposit of £500 will be required and taken in the form of a pre-authorised credit/debit card payment. Cash deposits are not acceptable. Should you not be able to provide a credit/debit card deposit on collection ASP Car Hire shall be under no obligation to provide either the vehicle or a refund of the reservation.

Reservation Guarantee

Where a flight number has been specified on a reservation, ASP Car Hire will guarantee to keep your vehicle ready to collect within 90 minutes of your flight arrival time as stated by the flight information system. Where no flight information is specified, should you fail to contact our office within 60 minutes of your reserved pick-up time, you will be deemed to be a no show and the vehicle will be re-allocated. If a vehicle is available on your arrival one will be provided, should this not be possible no refund will be issued for failure to collect on time.

Cancelling Your Reservation

All cancellations are subject to charges. If you need to cancel please notify ASP Car Hire as soon as possible prior to the start of your rental by email to sales@aspcarhire.com or by calling +44 (0)1624 813001. If you have created an account, you have the option to cancel online but in all cases please follow this up by emailing or calling to ensure we can process your cancellation promptly.

Cancellation Charges

7 or more days before start date £25
3-5 days before start date 50% of pre-payment
0-2 days before start date 75% of pre-payment

No refunds will be given for rentals ended early, late collections, no shows or cancellations made after the rental start date & time.
